If there's one thing that Meltdown proves, it's that young people just don't know how to rock. Because Ash, having spent the better part of their formative years in the music industry, have finally matured into a proper rock band. Leaving behind the power-pop leanings of their previous albums, frontman Tim Wheeler and his bandmates crank it up to 11 right from the opening riffs of the title track. This is the sound of a band who have spent a lot of time listening to the Smashing Pumpkins, particularly Siamese Dream, and it shows on tracks such as "Orpheus" and "Out of the Blue". Wisely, tho...  Read full review »

Being a real fan of ash, I have to admit that this album is not for me, 1977 and Free all angels are. Meltdown suffers from over-production just like nu-clear sounds, feels too guitar noisy, heavy, pedantic and complicated, lyrical stupid, new fans looking for a heavy rock and even metallic ones will dig it, but not me, this is one step back for what I consider the true s...  Read full review »

UNBELIEVABLE

I first heard this album when i saw the band live earlier this year at Wedgewood Rooms and unveiled their new album Meltdown. And what can i say i was blown away. I opted for the limited edition because of the extra disk and the energy that you feel while listening to it is mesmerizing. This is a quick summary of the tracks on the album;
Meltdown - Quite heavy with an amazing rolling riff
Orpheus - Is like sunshine in a bowl with a dark edge
Evil Eye - Is calmer but with deep lyrics
Clones - The heaviest song ash have ever done possibly the best on the album
Starcrossed -...  Read full review »

Pleasantly suprised!!!!!

I have never been a fan of Ash, i have always thought that Tim Wheeler could at best be described as a medioacre vocalist and that their music was, well RUBBISH!!
So imagine my suprise when i heard a demo of this album an actually liked it. Tim Wheeler will never be on a par with the rock god vocalists of yesteryear, but his whinny, nasal some would say original approach someh...  Read full review »
