A major criticism of the Foo Fighters' self-titled debut was its supposed lack of, you know, passion among the well-crafted songs and well-crafted rock. This time out, if it's wreckage you want, it's wreckage you get. The Colour and the Shape grows deeper the more it's played, with t... Read full review »
I mark this album as songs, not the album itself, as some other reviewers have also stated, foo fighters are a singles band, and not an albums band. this album is impossible to like as every single track on it is amazing, notably, monke... Read full review »
An excellent album, laid down when the creative juices were really flowing (it must be so hard the longer you go on). the album is on my listmania greatest list. to be honest all the foo's album could be up there. i can't imagine anyone looking at these reviews who's never heard of the foo fighters, or there music. well if you haven't i'd say... This is the Foos' best album (and I've got 'em all). Everlong is one of the most phenomenal rock songs ever, Monkey Wrench is brilliantly catchy, Hey Jonny Park is fantastic, My Poor Brain is a corker, Wind Up is excellent, and My Hero... Read full review »
This can easily be classed as one of the Foo's best albums. It has some brilliant tracks, 'Monkey Wrench', 'My hero' and the anthem 'Everlong', which are all simply outstanding. The whole album is superb tho... Read full review »

This is my favourite Foo Fighters album, I have owned it for years and still play it regularly. If you are just getting into the Foos then I would buy this first. It sounds a lot crisper and finished then the first album and you can just let play the whole way through as it flows really well. It also has Dave... Read full review »
The Foo's Colour & the Shape I think is their best album,
though they have plenty of albums that are a long way from
disapointing.
I have yet to hear a Foo CD worth less than 4 stars, -I have 2 more
to try yet-, but even if they not as good as their average, FF
still got more top albums than the average bear.
If this is a 5* CD with some extra tracks on, even if they are
rough/ not to everyones taste, thats a 5* CD with poor extras, not
a 3* CD! COME ON!
Extras are u...

Time and again I have been disappointed by Foo Fighters albums,
simply because every release after 1997 has failed to live up to
The Colour And The Shape. Upon the release of every new album the
band proclaim it'll be better than anything they have ever done but
I don't think they will ever better this album. This is when the
Foos blended blistering rock with great melodies to near
perfection. Let's use Monkey Wrench as an example - a finely tuned
rock beast with awesome riffs and the kind of "free spirit" passion
the band has struggled to maintain since. This was an exctiting and
accomplished album with almost no weak links and yet I find most of
Foo Fighters new stuff relatively bland these days.
So why only three stars for such a damn good album? Well the album
in its o...
