I have to say that despite being a massive Kasabian fan, I
thought Empire was a bit disappointing. It's not that it was a
particularly bad album, there were some top tracks on it, I just
thought it was hastily put together, rush released after the
success of the debut and the live reputation that had been
earning.
WRPLA is completely different. Almost 3 years after Empire it
arrives after a few setbacks. Serge himself said that the album was
originally ready mid-late last year but they weren't totally happy
and decided to re-work some things to improve it. I'm glad they
did, as this album is a much more focussed, well produced and
enjoyable experience than the previous one.
It seems that the band are pretty intent on removing the "lad-rock"
tag they have been given by certain areas on WRPLA. To me, there is

could easily fit on "Kasabian".
Where Did All The Love Go? is a refresing new angle for Kasabian,
very melodic and chilled ou...

This album won't knock you down and grab you by the throat (in a nice way) like the previous two. It is far more subtle and sinister. Not the hulking great hooligan shouting on the street corner, but the cool but creepy guy who keeps staring at you, and despite your fear you are intrigued and can't stop staring back. Serge had said that each of these songs is like an inmate of the asylum, and there is that One Flew O... Read full review »
Kasabian are undoubtably one of this country's greatest live bands (although not 'the' best as one reviewer suggests, that title goes to Muse in my opinion), however as yet they have not quite managed to carry the raw power and energy of the live gigs across into their live recordings. With their third album I was really hoping that this would change. So has it?... well yes and no... There's no doubt that this album is more experimental, which is always a good thing and that familiar Kasabian sound is present in some of the songs. Ho... Read full review »
