Manic Street Preachers (often referred to The Manics) formed in Wales in 1986, originally consisting of James Dean Bradfield (vocals, lead guitar), Richey Edwards (rhythm guitar), Nicky Wire (bass) and Sean Moore (drums).
Starting out with a sound that consisted of a mix of glam punk and faux metal, their musical outlook changed in 1995 when Edwards went missing, presumed dead. The album that followed, Everything Must Go, was a string laden epic. It was a commercial and critical success, and the band increased their already dedicated fan base.
The band have since received the NME Godlike Genius award.
