This Japan only release collects some of the b-side tracks from the Manic Street Preachers "Know Your Enemy" album.
It starts with the Avalances excellent remix of So Why So Sad; this sounds very 60s and reminiscent of The Beatle's All You Need In Love.
Then it's full rock force with Pedestal where Nicky's classic lyrical form rhymes pedestal with celestial, er quite.
Locust Valley shows that the Manics are capable of tackling their tunes in different ways. Mixing reverbed drumbeats with verses of James singing interacted with Nicky speaking; this track is one of the most inventive Manics tracks of recent times.
Talking of Nicky, he takes the lead vocal on punk track Ballad Of The Bangkok Novotel. If you liked Wattsville Blues you'll love this.
