Reviews

Classic, under-rated, AND overlooked single
Quote

"A Design For Life". It brings back so many memories of the wonderful 90's; a transition not just in society, but for the music industry, as it came round in full circle to offer the delights of commercial and industry made pop bands.

The Manics however always went in their own direction, as did Travis. This single contains 4 of my most loved tracks, and it's hard to believe the 2 B-Sides were only released on a single...  Read full review »

Manic street preachers rule!

This song is the best composed song that James Dean Bradfield and Sean moore have ever written! The song is already in the category of 'classic' and this the manics most famous track to date. Although it only got to num...  Read full review »

Classic manics! their best single since motown junk!
Quote

This is classic manics, and whats even better about this single is the way the manics have managed to create one of their best ever songs without the influence/lyrics of the great richey edwards. lyrically, this is nicky wire at his best and the guitar riffs by james...  Read full review »

CD2 of A Design For Life is the essential partner to CD1, this being the remixes while CD1 contained the B-sides. Everybody knows the single- the anti-anthem which became an anthem for all the wrong reasons, ensuring that for a while the manics became the unlikely heroes of drunken louts and middle class rugby toffs everywhere. One of the best songs of the nineties, it embodies the Manics perfectly; the huge chorus, the catchy melodies masking the intelligent but overlooked and misunder...  Read full review »

Another mislabeled Manic single
Quote

While this is a good single, it another Manic single that amazon has mislabled. This is not a 6 track single, but a 4 track single, with 3 remixes as b-sides. The orchestral version of A Design For Life is good, but can be found on the special edition of Everything Must Go (which is well worth the money, for all the b-sides and demo's). The instrumental version is very good though. easily worth a pound (though i don't know how long these wil...  Read full review »

Indispensable because of the Stealth Sonic Instrumental
Quote

The Stealth Sonic remix of this single which retains James Dean Bradfield's vocal is now available on the special edition of 'Forever Delayed'. However, to my knowledge, this is the only place one can get one's hands on the instrumental versio...  Read full review »
