Another brilliant album from a brilliant band. Their powerful music is simply amazing. I have all their albums and loved them all, and was literally waiting up at night to download their new album and was not disappointed! I love the guitar, i love the beautiful piano, funky tunes, Matt's voice (and hair! lol! :D). All of it together makes some really emotionally beautiful an...  Read full review »

Well, i brought it today, but have been listening to it on and off for the past week (via youtube:) And i'm still really not sure how good this is.. i know its good, i like nearly all the tracks, but i'm not sure how good.. i don't think its as good as Absolution, possibly not even as good as Black Holes.

I try and rate it by comparing it, this is their fifth album, they have the world at their fingertips, they could have done a 50 minute symphony (like Bellamy mentioned some time before), they could have done a concept album, comparable to dark side of the moon (and listening to Exogenesis thats not completely out of their grasp), they could have just released singles (boo..). The point is they could have done a lot more - 'its good, but its not right'.

Like i say, i've been listening to it for a week, maybe i'm wrong to compare it to their other stuff, but it does seem like this album is a lot less dark, and much more playful, maybe thats a good thing! I guess time will tell. But (and maybe this is nostalgia) i long for citizen erased, i long for a 6 minute song about the good news being "she cant have babies".. about cutting someones name in your heart.. about politicians burning for their sins.. about the end of the world being imminent!!!

This album isnt really any of those things. It would be a good album if it was released a year or so after black holes, y'know, a sort of "we've had some fun before we do our next big thing", or if they'd released this alongside an album length version of Exogenesis (which feels way to short, esp...  Read full review »

Not as good as Absolution, but still pretty good

I fall into the "Muse Fanboy" area and after listening to this album a few times feel it is time to give a review.

This is by no means the best Muse Album but it holds it own quite nicely. It's mixture of interesting synth, guitar and piano work from Matt along with excellent bass and drum work via Chris and Dom, it is everything you want from Muse?

It does misses some of the darker melodies we have come to know from Muse, so when bands slightly cha...  Read full review »
