My Vitriol

Biography

My Vitriol signed to Infectious Records, home of Ash and the Subways, in the final week of the 20th century. As with most of Infectious' signings, My Vitriol were hook-laden rockers. However, with their more powerful, intelligent, shoegazer sound they stood out not only from their labelmates, but also on the indie scene at the time. They were even said to be the creators of the so-called nu-gaze scene.

The band originally consisted of Som Wardner (guitar/vox), Ravi Kesavaram (drums), Seth Taylor (guitar) and Carolyn Bannister (bass). In 2005, Bannister was replaced by Laura Claire.

Their debut and - as of 2008 - only album, Finelines, reaching number 24 in the UK album chart in 2001, spawning three top 40 singles. Following extensive touring, the band went on hiatus for several years. However, in 2008, the band released an EP A Pyrrhic Victory and have begun gigging again, with an album in the wings. This follow-up LP has taken so long to materialise, it has been dubbed the UK-indie's Chinese Democracy.
