Biography

Oasis are one the biggest British bands on the planet. Taking influences from the 1960's and 70's, their sound is undeniably retro (almost derivative) but is incredibly popular and has earned the group's nucleus, brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, international fame.

The band started in Manchester, England in 1991 as The Rain. They changed their name when Liam's older brother joined the band and it was clear early on that Noel was to be the chief songwriter. The band were signed to Alan McGee's Creation Records in 1993 and released their debut LP Definitely Maybe in 1994 to universal critical acclaim. Their second album (What's The Story) Morning Glory? followed in 1995 to similarly rapturous reviews. Their third long player, Be Here Now became the fastest selling album in UK chart history although it had a mixed critical reception. Subsequent albums have seen many line-up changes and flourishes of their early brilliance but have ultimately disappointed.

Aside from the music, since then the band have started their own record label (Big Brother Recordings) and clothing line (Pretty Green).
